at the Brooke County Public Library. All meetings are open to the public. The following individuals will be sworn in as 2006 officers of the
BCEDA:&nbsp;President, Joan Simonetti Beck; Vice President, Norman Schwertfeger; Treasurer, John Casinelli; and Recording Secretary, Phil Diserio.
<pbr>The Brooke County EDA was formed, under the auspices of the Brooke County Commissioners in 2003 to enhance the quality of life by retaining,
expanding, and attracting business to Brooke County and the region, stated Commissioner John Casinelli.&nbsp;We appreciate the efforts of currently active
EDA members and extend our gratitude to outgoing officers: Virgil Thompson, President; Joe Adams, Jr., Vice President; Dave Velegol, past-Vice
President; Larry Swanson,

Treasurer; and Joan Beck, Recording Secretary,commented Commissioner Casinelli.

<p>The Brooke County Economic Development Authority initiated a Business Retention and Expansion study, during 2005, coordinated by WVU Extension
Services,Center for Economic, Community, and Workforce Development. As a result of this study and feedback received during a public meeting held 4<sup>th</sup> quarter 2005, the BCEDA announced the following 2006 initiatives:</p> <ul type="DISC"> <li>Involving the public in economic development;</li> <li>Promoting entrepreneurism;</li> <li>Leveraging county, regional, state, and federal business development resources; </li> <li>Proactively marketing county assets to recruit new businesses;</li> <li>Developing tourism as an economic opportunity for the region;</li> <li>Fostering collaborative inter-county and inter-state partnerships;</li> <li>Supporting transportation enhancements through the BHJ Planning Commission.</li> </ul> <p>Critical to our success is community involvement, stated President-elect, Joan Beck. We need energetic individuals to join our Program of Work
subcommittees, and help us develop new ideas and methods for promoting innovation, entrepreneurial success, and economic development in our region.</p> <p>We'd like to have representation from all Brooke County municipalities and all segments of our community,&nbsp;added Norm Schwertfeger, 2006
